On 31 January 2020, Eau de Paris announced the launch of the second edition of its "Défis Innovation", or Innovation Challenges, a call for innovative solutions conducted in partnership with the Richelieu Committee.

The initiative aims to enable the development of concrete operational responses to questions that are solved neither internally nor by existing market solutions, drawing upon new expertise.

The challenges focus on the commitment of public enterprise to sustainable territories.

Challenge #1: Develop drinking containers with a low carbon footprint
Challenge #2: Invent the universal fountain of the 21st century
Challenge #3: Better understand catchment areas to improve the protection of water resources
Challenge #4: Evaluate in real time and continuously the bacterial load of a water to ensure that its excellent quality is maintained
Challenge #5: Continuously analyse dissolved hydrocarbon concentrations at water intakes

Open to all partnerships, Eau de Paris collaborates with research organisations, innovative companies (start-ups, SMEs, etc), public and private actors to design the future of water.

As a result of the first edition, 11 prize winners benefited from the support of Eau de Paris's expert and financial support to develop their proof of concept.
