In October 2025, Metropolitana Milanese (MM) celebrates its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of innovation, progress, and commitment to the city of Milan.
Founded on 6 October 1955 in the presence of Mayor Virgilio Ferrari, MM was created to realise an ambitious dream: to build Milan’s first metro line and revolutionise urban mobility. Since then, the company has continuously expanded its activities, from urban planning and water resource management to engineering consultancy and green care.
Throughout its history, MM has played a leading role in shaping Milan’s transformation - designing, building, and managing projects that improve citizens’ quality of life every day.
Today, as it celebrates this important milestone, MM renews its original spirit of innovation and continues to imagine and build the future of Milan.
