Demand-Driven Innovation in Smart Water Metering Solutions
Since the beginning of the year, APE and 7 of its members are engaged in the Horizon2020 SMART.MET project. The aim of SMART.MET is to drive the development of new technologies to deal with the collection and management of smart metering data through a joint Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP).
After four successful market consultation events, the consortium is now preparing the call for tenders, which should be published at the beginning of next year. A total budget of over 3 million euros will be allocated to up to 6 offers to develop smart metering solutions that fully cater to the needs of utilities in terms of readability, battery lifetime, interoperability and other parameters while avoiding vendor lock-in.
