A BLUE NEW DEAL: Water’s role in a sustainable and fair future - Online, 20 May

Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, and Águas de Gaia, the public water operator of the city of Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal) invite you to explore why the sustainable management of water resources represents a pillar of a fair climate transition, and how the EU Green Deal can foster the achievement of this objective. Access to water and sanitation must be a priority in the Commission action plan to implement the Pillar of Social Rights

Drinking Water Directive secures clean and safe water but more could have been done to improve access to water

Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators welcomes the formal adoption of the Drinking Water Directive. With this new text, citizens will continue to enjoy clean and safe water no matter where they are in Europe. They will also have access to more information, thus fostering more confidence in tap water. However, we believe more could have been done by the EU.

On 22nd October, EMASESA presented its public consultation at the online conference‘United for Water. For a Green Change’ jointly organised with the Spanish association of public water operators, AEOPAS and the Spanish media group Joly.

EU Committee of the Regions encourages participation in Water Erasmus

The Committee of the Regions' Opinion on the Fitness check of the Water Framework Directive, Groundwater Directive, Environmental Quality Standards Directive and Floods Directive, adopted on 2 July 2020, highlights Aqua Publica Europea's Water Erasmus initiative as a best practice to support the implementation of EU water legislation and the improvement of water management.
