On 1 December 2021, the association of European water regulators (WAREG) and the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (ARERA), convene online the second European Forum on Regulation of Water Services. 

What are the possible impacts of the European Green Deal on the water sector? What role do water regulators have in promoting innovation and sustainability in the EU Members and Member Candidates?

The online conference aims to exchange on green transition and the actions taken by European Institutions and by national regulators to improve circular economy‐based activities in the water sector.

Participants will address key issues of energy saving, energy production from sewage sludge, recovery of materials from wastewater, water reuse, reduction of plastic consumption.

Background

The 1st European Forum on the Regulation of Water Services (EFRWS) took place on 3 December in Rome (Italy) and gathered 50 speakers from all over Europe, representing water regulatory authorities, water industry associations, researchers and institutions. Aqua Publica Europea shared public water operators' perspectives during the panel discussion on Water Governance. Materials and documents are available online.
