Webinar: Right to water. Risks and challenges for the future

On 16th December, the Barcelona City Council organise a webinar to present the UN report on Human rights and the privatisation of water and sanitation services. The event will count with the participation of Leo Heller (former UN SR), Pedro Arrojo (UN SR), Bernard Van Nuffel (APE), Eloi Badia (Barcelona City Council) and Míriam Planas (Aigua és Vida).

To mark the 10th anniversary of the recognition of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation by the United Nations General Assembly, the Barcelona City Council will present the UN report on Human rights and the privatisation of water and sanitation services.

Leo Heller former UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, as the author of the report, will introduce the main factors that could hamper the realisation of the human rights to water and sanitation.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion on the right to water: risks and challenges for the future and municipalities with Pedro Arrojo, the newly appointed UN Special Rapporteur, Bernard Van Nuffel, Aqua Publica Europea President (via video message) and Eloi Badia, councillor for Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition and President of the Catalan Association of municipalities for public water management (AMAP).

Míriam Planas (Aigua és Vida) will present the Catalan version of the report.
