- On 17 October 2019, Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, launched its new publication 'The Public Water Services of the Future'. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the association proposes to outline the role that public water operators across Europe are undertaking, as actors of their communities, fully embedded into their environmental, social, economic and knowledge ecosystems, and striving to contribute to a sustainable future. Based on the long-term strategies and concrete actions of the member operators, the document addresses how they are preparing to address the great challenges of tomorrow and to harness opportunities.
- On 17 October 2019, on the occasion the tenth anniversary of Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, about one hundred participants gathered for a seminar connecting the water sector with other public sectors to discuss how to jointly foster a sustainable future in a circular society. The seminar was hosted by VIVAQUA, the public water operator of Brussels.
On the 22 March 2020, the World Water Day, the Italian water operator and Aqua Publica Europea Member Padania Acque launched an educational project focused on teaching the importance of water as an initiative to provide resources for children whilst they have to stay at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Aqua Publica Europea member, EMASESA (Seville, Spain) is launching a pilot project to test the viability of using oranges from the public roads as biogas producers; showcasing strong commitment to the circular economy. The project is carried out in cooperation with the City of Seville's Department for Parks and Gardens.
Scheduled to start on 31 January 2020, the post-graduate degree in 'Management of Integrated Water Service' was launched on 24 January at the Palazzo dell'Acqua in Bari (Italy), as a partnership between local public water operator Acquedotto Pugliese, with its AQP Water Academy, and the University LUM Jean Monnet School of Management.
Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, welcomes the European Parliament’s draft Motion for a Resolution on Pharmaceuticals in the Environment, as step forward in the protection of water resources from pharmaceutical residues. The members of Aqua Publica Europea provide quality water and sanitation services to over seventy million people throughout Europe. Based on their on-the-ground experience and expertise, we would like to share some comments on the draft Motion for a Resolution 2019/2816(RSP).
