- As the COVID-19 outbreak affects all of Europe, the continued supply of high quality drinking water and sanitation operations is essential to ensure health of all citizens and continuity of other essential activities. In this context, the Management Board and members of Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, adopt today a joint statement, outlining common commitments to fulfil public water operators’ mission for the continued delivery of quality water whilst also protecting health and securing a coordinated response across Europe.

On 23 March 2020, Aqua Publica member representatives from 50 water operators from: Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Hungary, Greece, Montenegro, Austria gathered in an online roundtable to exchange about the COVID-19 emergency and share the measures adopted by public water operators to ensure continuity of services during this unprecendented crisis.
On the 22 March 2020, the World Water Day, the Italian water operator and Aqua Publica Europea Member Padania Acque launched an educational project focused on teaching the importance of water as an initiative to provide resources for children whilst they have to stay at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
