- A new publication by Aqua Publica Europea presents the concrete contribution of its members to realisation of the human right to water and sanitation through not-for-profit Water Operators Partnership.
- On 17 October 2019, Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, launched its new publication 'The Public Water Services of the Future'. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the association proposes to outline the role that public water operators across Europe are undertaking, as actors of their communities, fully embedded into their environmental, social, economic and knowledge ecosystems, and striving to contribute to a sustainable future. Based on the long-term strategies and concrete actions of the member operators, the document addresses how they are preparing to address the great challenges of tomorrow and to harness opportunities.
On 2 June, Aqua Publica Europea co-hosted the UN Habitat's Global Water Operators Partnership Alliance (GWOPA) webinar “Emergency response, business continuity and resilience of utilities” on the response of water operators to COVID-19 emergency. As the COVID-19 outbreak affects all of Europe, the continued supply of high quality drinking water and sanitation operations is essential to ensure health of all citizens and continuity of other essential activities. In this context, the Management Board and members of Aqua Publica Europea, the European Association of Public Water Operators, adopt today a joint statement, outlining common commitments to fulfil public water operators’ mission for the continued delivery of quality water whilst also protecting health and securing a coordinated response across Europe.
The upcoming Farm-to-Fork Strategy announces high ambitions for sustainable food systems, with an approach that addresses the entire supply chain, taking into account health, fairness, environment and food security considerations. In this context, we emphasise that our production and consumption habits deeply affect the environment, and notably water resources in terms of quality and quantity.
